National Atlas
The National Atlas of Ethiopia was published in 1988, However it is
still considered as a valuable document to show the potential resources of the
country. This Atlas has great advantages help to users on the
investment decision making,especially on the resource exploration through out
the country.
The cost of national Atlas is only birr 393.30 including VAT.
Thematic Maps
Thematic maps are prepared up on request. We can prepare special
purpose maps such as tourist maps, road maps, land uses, land cover maps,
change detection maps, etc. using satellite imageries application of national
urban resources, reduction of maps, etc.
Topographic Maps
Topographic map is one of the major productions of The Ethiopian Mapping Agency
and its cost price is depending on the scale of the maps.
1: 50,000 costs birr 100.00 including VAT per sheet.
1:250,000 costs birr 70.00 including VAT per sheet.
1:1,000,000 costs birr 50.00including VAT per sheet.
Ortho photo
Ortho-photo is a rectified photograph associated with
geographical coordinates.
We have about 75 Ortho photomaps on the scale 1:50,000 for various towns.
The cost of Ortho-photo is estimated about birr 384.10 including VAT.
Addis Ababa Map
Addis Ababa city map with a scale of 1:25,000 and 1:20,000.
The cost of the maps are birr 58.65 and birr 57.50 including VAT
respectively.
Map of Ethiopia
There are two types of Ethiopian Map:
Map of Ethiopia in Scale of 1:2,000,000 prepared in one sheet and the whole
coverage in the scale 1:1,000,000 contained ten sheets.
The cost of Ethiopia Map is birr 100.00 including VAT.
Africa Map
The Africa map is prepared in the scale of 1:10,000,000.
The cost of the map is birr 39.10 including VAT.
World Map
The world map is prepared in the scale of 1:45,000,000 and its cost is
20.70 including VAT.
Aerial Photograph
We have aerial photograph large scale photographs of
various towns processed for NUPI (National Urban Planning), inaddition to
1:50,000 of the whole country coverage prepared in 1967.
The cost of aerial photograph is estimated about birr 52.90 including VAT.
Catalogue
Map catalogue , 2002 edition is available.
The cost of Map catalogue is estimated about birr 5.75 including VAT.
Satellite imageries
Land use/ land cover maps, geological maps, soil maps, habitat
maps, biomass maps, DEM maps, land suitability maps, forest maps, environmental
maps, etc
The cost of remotely sensed data depends on the processing type
and format as well as area coverage requested by the users can be supplied in
hard copy.
Coordinates
EMA can serve you by processing the x,y,z coordinates of specific area for
your special purpose.
The cost of the coordinates (x,y,z)89.70 including VAT.
Map Gazetteers
We have a publication of Map gazetteers contained in three
volumes that is edited 2002 up to 2004. The coverage of the volumes is

Satellite Imageries
The Remote Sensing Department of EMA has been applied different
digital imageries since 1989 such as Aerial photographs, Land Sat MSS and Land
Sat TM since 1986 and ETM of 2000/01 covers the whole country, SPOT XS and
panchromatic images covered some areas in the north.
The cost of remotely sensed data depends on the processing type
and format as well as area coverage requested by the users can supply using CD.
Thematic Products
Most of the users are beneficiaries of thematic maps. We can
prepare special purpose maps such as tourist maps, city/town maps, road maps,
land sat spot for land uses, land type detection, application of national urban
resources, request of reduction of maps, etc.
We can provide any thematic map digitally based on request.
Departments depending on the workload and various cost parameters estimate the
cost of digital thematic maps.
Topographic Map
The areas covered and available in digital topographic maps are the following.

Urban Planning Maps
We have already provided urban planning large-scale maps for
Addis Ababa city and for towns ordered by National Urban Planning Institute
(NUPI) such as Mekele, Diredawa, and Harar. The scales of the cities/towns are
the following:
- Addis Ababa 1:2,000 and 1:25,000
- Mekele 1:2,000
- Dire Dawa 1:2,000
- Harar 1:2,000
Other towns prepare on request.
Map Catalogue
The Ethiopian Mapping Agency prepares Map Catalogue to assist
map users by providing information about our services, be they are thematic
maps, topographic maps and geodetic, cadastral and engineering survey data.
The catalogue will be periodically revised as more and more, maps, Arial
photographs, and other relevant information are available.
