SURVEYING DIRECTORATE
All geo-spatial data, in one way or another, relies on survey
inputs to uniquely identify the geographical location of individual features.
The geographical location of a feature is determined through surveying process.
The process includes data capturing , data processing and presentation. Map is
one way of presentation.
ACTIVITIES
-
GEODETIC SERVEYING
The main task of the department is to establish and densify the horizontal and
vertical geodetic control points throughout the country. The geodetic control
points are used to determine photo control points and other control points in
the production of topographical map of a project area. These control points are
useful to determine the geographical location of other map features.
Currently, global positioning system is being applied in the process of
establishing and densifying the control points. The GPS technology is more
accurate, fast in processing and easier in observation and manipulation
process.
-
LARGE SCALE SURVEYING
