Communication and Business Development Directorate
Communications and Business Development are messages and related media used to communicate with a market. Those who practice advertising, branding, direct marketing, graphic design, marketing, packaging, promotion, publicity, sponsorship, public relations, sales, sales promotion and online marketing are termed marketing communicators, marketing communication managers, or more briefly as marcom managers.
Many trends in business can be attributed to business development; for example: the transition from customer service to customer relations, and the transition from human resources to human solutions. In branding, opportunities to contact stakeholders are called points of contact. Marketing communication is concerned with the general behavior of an organization and the perceptions of the organization that are promoted to stakeholders and prospect clients through points of contacts.
Based on these facts The Ethiopian Mapping Agency (EMA) structured a new organ known as Communication and Business Development Directorate.
This directorate comprises two teams lead by one Director:
- Public Relation Team: It has a broad activity in communicating the agency and its public and stakeholders; it has also given a responsibility to build and maintaining a positive perception of EMA in the mind of its public through paper and electronics Medias, workshops, symposia, exhibitions, and so on.
- Sale and Marketing Team: This team is responsible for the direct relation ship with the client data request through e-mail, telephone, fax, or in person who need geo-information from the agency. The team sales geo-information data on one window shopping process at the front get and do market promotion and directing customers to the working directorates according to their request. The team also do price as well as need assessment of geo-information based on the customer need assessment.
- Customers Communication Officer: This expert is given a responsibility of communicating and assessing and creating a database of costumers. He/She is also planed new directions and value added process for the satisfaction of the customer. He/She assed the problems faced the customer in getting data from the agency and became proactive to solve it with responsible personnel.
